Understanding the Appeal Process
If the property owner is not satisfied with the BRT’s decision, they can further appeal to the Court of Common Pleas within 30 days. The Court of Common Pleas will then review the case and make a final determination.
Property owners may also informally appeal their assessment by requesting a "First Level Review.” The OPA handles these assessments. Our firm handles all steps of these processes.

What Are Tax Appeals?
Tax appeals are due the First Monday in October and are formal requests taxpayers make to challenge a government agency’s tax assessment or decision. We make the appeals at the local city level. Typically, tax appeals involve disputes over the amount of tax you owe related to your property tax assessment, errors in size of the property, or use, condition or exemption amount. We help our clients by filing a tax assessment appeal, negotiating with City evaluators and the Office of Property Assessment (OPA) to resolve the dispute. If necessary, we also represent clients in front of the Board of Revision of Taxes (BRT).
